Of 4G and smart phones.

In today’s world, we can see a lot of people with mobile phones especially smart phones and also tablets in their hands either  making calls, or by using the internet to interact with one another via Facebook, Twitter and also the latest trend, Instagram. Not to forget, Internet is basically used for watching videos and to catch up on news or world issues.

With all those interaction mentioned, mobile network data is relevant. Most of the applications, particularly videos either on YouTube or videos on Instagram to load, consume a lot of bandwidth. In regard to this, telecommunications companies across the globe are gearing up to upgrade to the latest generation of mobile data that could eventually ease consumers by helping them speed things up.

3rd generation. Back in the early 2011, a technology imaginatively called 3G was introduced. Clunky and slow, that was how well it was remembered as.  The revolution of the new smartphones started since then but apparently the network we had back then could not keep up, could not support our bandwidth consumption despite the fact that smartphones like the Apple iPhone were bought by almost everyone in the country.

Eventually, in Malaysia, things were upgraded to 4G in 2013 after all those complaints of the Internet being slow and what not. Despite the technology been upgraded, it actually is starting to show its age nowadays, what is with being clunky and slow as of 3G.

With this new slowness in 4G, in my opinion, 5G is definitely on its way. The curiosity here is, how definite can it definitely be? Well, it will be fortunate for us to have it within a decade, I say, for all we know technologies keep changing within years, maybe months or even days.

  1. According to BBC News (2015), 5G networks will offer a revved-up capability to download 30 full-length HD movies in a mere second. In other words, this new generation of innovation provides speed up to one terabit per second (Tbps). That’s 4G on superlative turbo, fascinatingly 65,000 times faster than our current 4G networks. The next rational egghead should ask, “What can we achieve with such insane boost?” Well, the 5th Generation networks promise Internet of Things (IoT), which extend a network of physical objects planted with electronics, software, sensors and connectivity. Nest Mobile allows you to manage your Nest Thermostat when you are away from home. Tesco mobile apps enables customers to shop online with convenient orders and doorstep delivery. Can’t get enough? If you weren’t quite impressed by The Model S 17-Inch Touchscreen Display, try downloading the Tesla Model S apps on your smartphone or perhaps watch.
Feeling anticipated and pumped up for 5G networks already?

  2. When a good friend came back to Kuching after staying in Australia for 3 years, the first thing she complained about was the internet connection and web site blocks. At first I did not understand why she complained because for me our internet connection at that time was surprisingly good. Well maybe we cant compete yet with neighboring country. Heck, we cant even beat Singapore despite that country is just next to ours. Maybe 4g or 5G ist a big deal for me but it is a big deal for some.

  4. For me, I really don't care about 4G, 5G or 6G. Like my family, our internet speed is only 65kb/s. Although it seem like extremely low internet connection, we still enjoy using it. Because with the low speed of internet, we tend to watch movie (just stream 1 video) together or take turn to use the internet. It help to develop and strengthening our family relationships. We also learn how to be calm and patient when the internet is not working.

I hope smart phones battery can last longer as well! It is no use if the internet is fast as a lightning bolt, but the battery could only last a day. Major phone producers like Samsung, Apple and Oppo should really invest their money in a longer lasting batteries.

  6. Saya percaya semakin laju internet, semakin kurang masa telefon pintar digunakan. No buffer.

  8. 4G and smartphones?

it is undeniably that we already reached the 4G system in our country and we have the device which is known smartphones to utilized the system for the good of the public.

but there are complaints and tons of complaints regarding the the speed of the 4G, are the 4G isn't fast enough? or is it the device couldn't handle it?

the debate on this may be prolonged into an advance matter however to put it in a simplified form, the speed of the 4G has not been utilized well where there are only several hotspot with the high speed connection, some may say they are having stable and fast line but some may say the connection is slow
